Pinkchampagne asked:
I have slight acne on my face, back and shoulders. Can you list some ways that I can improve the look of my skin and get rid of acne and blackheads?
My skin is worse in the winter, I barely have any zits anywhere on my body in the summer. Does anyone know why this happens?

It actually happens because in the winter you are wearing a lot of layers/clothes that hug the skin and if you sweat or if the skin gets oily, those clothes hugging the skin/back block your pores/spread it around and it is harder for it to clear up. Where as in the summertime, you are wearing lighter clothes, looser fits, and sometimes even bathing suits which lets air get to those places and even the sun and it clears up. You could wear looser clothing in the winter or else when you get home, change out of what you wore during the day into something more loose, comfortable and breathable fabric. Also try using a body wash such as Neutrogena all over acne body wash or something of that nature. It really helps.

i truly understand what you mean . my skin is the same ;)… the reason why this happens is because the sweaters you wear in winter and you body gets all heated up inside and the heat is comming out as in acne what we call it . try drinking more water and eat less oily and cheesey stuff.. =)

Try lavender oil. Apply this oil on the back acne everyday for minimum 15 days or else apply fresh Aloe vera juice or the gel and wash after a few hours. When washing your back use a loofah, sponge or exfoliant to help remove any dead skin cells that may clog up pores. Use a gentle action and don’t be too harsh otherwise you will end up breaking the skin. You should probably change your shirt twice a day to avoid bacteria buildup. Try for more info.

Vinegar can also be effective against acne. Dampen a cotton ball with apple cider vinegar and apply it to your pimples, leaving it on overnight. It also balances skin pH.There are also some good natural acne fighter you may try such as basil, neem, and tea tree oil. The advantage of these is that they not only are anti-inflammatory, and anti-bacterial, but they condition the skin as well. For more persistent or severe cases of back acne, a visit to the dermatologist may is necessary.Log on to for a few home made tips to heal acne .

The best thing you can do to help prevent acne is to keep their faces clean. Using harsh cleansers will not prevent acne. Use a mild soap and don’t scrub with a washcloth. Wash your face with your fingers using a gentle circular motion. Clean your face at least twice each day, morning and evening, and if you are having an outbreak, increase cleansing to three or even four times a day.
Eat a healthy, well-balanced diet that includes fruits, vegetables, whole grains, fish, and poultry in order to provide your body with the required nutrients for healthy skin.
